Attention adventurers! Ever wander through the woods wishing you had an opportunity to brush up on your survival skills? Do you feel the call of Scouts inviting you back into the wild to test your outdoor smarts? If so, this outing is for you!  

Under the canopy of one of Portland’s urban parks, join Paul Vanderford and Kelley Beamer for a 2-hour adventure to learn key outdoor survival skills. The class will include:  

• Shelter Building: How to make a basic shelter from natural items and basic tarp-tying 
• Fire building: from kindling to logs, fire set up for success 
• Knot tying: the three basic knots that everyone should know 
• Plant Identification: learn to identify native plants in our urban parks and common plant uses 
• How to hang a bear bag!

Paul Vanderford is a seasoned outdoors expert with years of experience applying his survival skills in the wild -- from New Zealand to our Oregon backyard. Paul is an Eagle Scout and master archer and fisherman. Kelley Beamer is a passionate fisherman, amateur botanist, and lover of the outdoors who loves to cook over the open fire. Together this family will host a day to remember for you and your kids.

Need a night out or time to get some holiday shopping done? Drop the kids off for a fun evening while you take care of your plans. Children can come cozy in their PJs with a blanket and pillow, and we'll handle the rest! The night includes dinner, refreshments, games, and a movie.

The event runs from 6:00-8:30 PM and is open to Madeleine School students in grades K-5.

Dust off those dancing shoes and get ready to boogie the night away at The Madeleine’s Daughter Disco Dance Party!

Join us under the disco ball for a far-out evening of nonstop funk, throwback favorites, and today’s biggest jams. Our DJ will keep the dance floor moving all night long, so come ready to get down!

This year, we’re switching things up and taking the party to the fabulous Buddha Lounge for a little extra sparkle, style, and Saturday Night Fever. And there’s more than dancing on the program! Show off your moves in the Disco Dance-Off, strut your disco best in our Costume Contest, get low with the Limbo, and enjoy plenty more groovy fun throughout the night.

Disco attire is highly encouraged! We’ll keep our dancers fueled with food, snacks, and drinks throughout the evening.

Dust off that Christmas sweater...it's almost time for the annual Hallmark Christmas Party!

We will kick off the night with an amazing signature holiday cocktail, spiked (or not), plus all the wine to keep you warm through the night. Coupled with savory apps, and sweet treats. We'll start with a 7:00 - 8:00 pm cocktail hour. Followed by the Hallmark movie and playing of hilarious Hallmark bingo 8:00 - 9:30 pm. There is a tubular prize for the winner. There will be a prize for the most Hallmark-y dressed person as well. It's the season to be merry!
